[00:00:01] Hey, let's talk Gillette. [00:00:08] What's happening in Gillette next week on May 5th is a Gillette City Council meeting. Before we get to the agenda, let's take a look at some other City of Gillette happenings in the next week or two. [00:00:19] There are some upcoming small changes to GPA Meeting Playback on Television County Commissioner meetings have already been moved to Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays, but the upcoming commissioners meeting that would be on May 6th won't play on TV on Wednesday on account of the fact that the meeting will be in Rite and we can't broadcast live from there. The meeting will be recorded and playback will start the next day. [00:00:43] Then the week after the City Planning Commission meeting that would have been on Tuesday the 12th will be on Monday the 11th instead, since the City Council chambers will be full of the City Council holding one of their annual budget workshops on Tuesday the 12th at 6pm if you're interested in how the City of Gillette budgets its money, the budget workshops are open for anyone to attend and the fourth and final budget workshop for the year will be on Thursday the 14th. Of course, all of the above mentioned meetings will also be available to stream [email protected] GPA usually the next day, it is somehow already time again for the annual Gurley Overpass deck inspections. So while the inspections are ongoing, the overpass will be closed since it would be difficult to inspect it while also dodging traffic. [00:01:31] The overpass will close at 9am and reopen at 3pm each day between May 4th and May 8th and then again between May 11th and 15th. [00:01:42] Every May, we have two occasions where we honor first responders killed or injured in the line of duty. [00:01:49] The Wyoming Peace Officers Memorial will be held on May 13th at noon outside of the Campbell County Sheriff's office. [00:01:56] Then on May 14, there will be another ceremony in remembrance of John Hardy, the City of Gillette police officer killed in the line of duty in 1983. The John Hardy Memorial is held outside City hall just off of Kendrick Avenue at 3pm here's what's on the May 5 City Council agenda It's the third and final reading of the ordinance to amend Chapter 13 of the City Code, the part of the City Code that deals with nuisances. The agenda has a short summary of what the changes would entail Amending the definition of inoperable vehicle to account for flat tires Reducing the allowable height of tall grass and weeds from 12 inches to 10 inches revising 133 to reduce the time an inoperable or unlicensed vehicle may remain on private property, including vehicles that have broken windshields or windows within 13.3B 7 instituting a tiered calendar year compliance timeline for repeated violations of particular sections. First violation is 14 days. [00:03:05] Second violation is 7 days. Third and subsequent violations result in immediate citation in municipal court. [00:03:13] Instituting a tiered calendar year fine schedule. [00:03:16] First conviction is a fine of up to $250. [00:03:19] Second conviction results in a fine between $250 and $500. [00:03:24] Third and subsequent convictions result in a fine of DOL. [00:03:29] There's a special event and open container permit before the Council for the Donkey Creek Music and arts Festival on June 20. It will close Warren Avenue between First and Second street for basically the entire day. [00:03:43] The Gillette Historic Preservation Commission, one of the city's citizen advisory boards, has created a historic preservation plan to guide the city efforts in identifying, preserving and protecting Gillette's historic resources. [00:03:57] The City Council will vote to accept the plan at this meeting. [00:04:01] There are two pre annexation agreements before the council, both sort of for updating older pre annexation agreements. [00:04:09] One is for 54 Jayhawker Court, which used to be a part of a different lot before being subdivided so the new lot needs a new preannexation agreement. The other is for 3601 West Southern Drive to add sewer service to their existing water service preannexation agreement. That's a brief look at the May 5 meeting.
