[00:00:01] Hey, let's talk Gillette.
[00:00:07] What's happening in Gillette? Next week on June 17th is a Gillette City Council meeting. Before we get to the agenda, let's take a look at some other City of Gillette happenings in the next week or two. You should adopt a pet Anytime is a good time to adopt a dog or cat. But now through Monday, June 16 is an extra good time because the City of Gillette Animal Shelter is running a name your own adoption fee event.
[00:00:30] That's right, over the weekend and on Monday you can set your own adoption fee just like those insurance commercials, but even better because instead of lame car insurance or whatever, you get an adorable new family member. There is still a three dollar license fee for Gillette residents. The City of Gillette Animal Shelter is open Monday through Friday from 1 to 5 and on Saturday from noon to 4. So tomorrow and Monday you set the fee. When you adopt and save a life, keep an eye out for the signs telling you when street sweepers will be coming through your neighborhood.
[00:01:02] When the street sweepers come through, please move your vehicles off the street because otherwise they can't sweep underneath your car.
[00:01:16] Next Monday June 16th at 5:30 at the Children's Memorial Garden at the intersection of Brooks and Warlow will be the annual Children's Memorial Remembrance Ceremony to remember and celebrate the lives of those taken from us too soon.
[00:01:32] There will be a table to display photos of loved ones and an opportunity to speak for those that wish to do so.
[00:01:46] And here's what's on the June 17th city council agenda.
[00:01:50] Two special event permits one that includes an open container permit on the 4th of July requested by the American Legion and another on the 20th of September requested by San Matthew's Church. There will be a public hearing and council consideration of amendments to the City budget for fiscal year 20252026 before the public hearing and third reading of the budget ordinance for same. If you want to know what goes into a city budget or what happened at the last two readings, you can check out the budget workshops and the first two

[00:02:22] It will be the third and final reading of amendments to Chapter 14 of the City Code, the portion of the City Code that deals with gun free zones.
[00:02:31] There are two items from the City Planning Commission.
[00:02:35] One is a resubdivision of Moon Meadow Estates. This is part of the Sinclair Avenue extension project to address connectivity issues in the area by connecting the dead end on East Sinclair street to Butler Spaith. The other planning item is the Tucker subdivision which would add previously unplatted land into an existing lot on Country Club Road, and that requires the creation of a new subdivision, the Tucker Subdivision.
[00:03:00] That's a brief look at the June 17 meeting.
