[00:00:01] Hey, let's talk Gillette. [00:00:08] What's happening in Gillette? Next week on January 6th is a Gillette City Council meeting. [00:00:14] Before we get to the agenda, let's take a look at some other City of Gillette happenings in the next week or two. [00:00:21] If you're hoping to tune in to see the County Commissioner meeting next Tuesday, I'm afraid you're out of luck. The County Commissioner meeting will not be on GPA TV cable channel 192 on Tuesday because the County Commissioners have moved all of their meetings to the first and third Wednesdays of each month. So if you want to see it, you'll have to watch when it's live on Wednesday the 7th at 9am need to get rid of your Christmas tree before it goes all orange and becomes even more of a fire hazard than it already was. [00:00:51] You can bring real Christmas trees you no longer need stripped of all decorations to the Christmas tree drop off site in the parking lot of the Gillette College Tech Center. The site is available until the end of January and after that all the trees will be chipped into mulch for use in the community garden. [00:01:12] Here's what's on the January 6th city council agenda. [00:01:16] It's the first meeting of the year and that means that council will be doing a bunch of their annual stuff like declaring an official newspaper for the City of Gillette, the Gillette News Record and the bank depositories for public funds. There's a whole list of them available available in the agenda every year. They also appoint or reappoint the Municipal Court judges and the City Attorney and also appoint people to the citizen advisory boards with openings. [00:01:42] Usually there's not much else on the agenda for the first City Council meeting of the year, but this year there's quite a bit there, including 5 optional 1% sales tax supported items. But all of those are acceptances of finished projects, not new ones. [00:01:57] The Council will consider acceptance of public improvements for the Force Road Mill and Overlay project, the Allen Avenue reconstruction project, the 2025 Sewer Point repairs project and the Sutherland Subdivision valve project, phase two. [00:02:11] The last optional 1% supported project for acceptance is the Dalby Memorial Park Improvement Study, which I singled out because it ties into a couple of other items the Council will consider at this meeting. [00:02:22] There are two considerations of a purchase and sale contract for the City Council to vote on for properties located at 2910 S Douglas Hwy and 604 Edwards St 2910 S Douglas Hwy is directly across Highway 59 from Dalby park and I think 604. Edwards is right behind that, and the city is considering purchasing both of those as part of the recommendations from the Dalby Park Improvement Study and the Donkey Creek Flood Study. [00:02:50] The studies both recommended moving the existing sediment forebay east of the bridge over Donkey Creek to a more accessible and maintainable location, hence buying these properties to provide the locations and making them accessible. 2910 S Douglas Hwy does have a building on it that's being leased by the current owner to the local Alcoholics Anonymous group, but it looks like they'll be able to keep renting the space once the city buys the property. [00:03:14] There will also be a second reading of the ordinance amending the district zoning map for lot one of Pronghorn Ranch phase three from R4 multifamily residential to RR rural residential. [00:03:26] That's a brief look at the January 6th meeting. [00:03:29] You can find the agenda on the city website gillettewy.gov and click on any item in the agenda to get a deeper explanation of the topic and see any supporting documentation.
