[00:00:01] Hey, let's talk Gillette. [00:00:08] What's happening in Gillette next week on September 15th. So on Monday instead of Tuesday, remember it's a Gillette City Council meeting. [00:00:17] Before we get to the agenda, let's take a look at some other City of Gillette happenings in the next week or two. [00:00:22] The city knows that no possible zoning code can account for all situations that could arise. And that's why we have a Board of Adjustment. If there a conflict with the code where it would cause undue hardship to the property owners, the property owners can apply for a variance to the code to the Board of Adjustment. And the Board of Adjustment is seeking new members. It doesn't meet often, only as needed, which is usually like once or twice a year. [00:00:49] If you're interested in applying to be on the boa, I've linked the application in the description of this episode and you have until October 3rd at 4pm to apply. [00:01:00] Have you been collecting City of Gillette Police Department trading cards? Because if you are and you haven't got the complete set or all the ones you would like, you can try to catch them all at the Coffee With a cop event on October 1st from 8 to 9:30am at City Brew. Trading cards are not the point of Coffee with a Cop, which is intended to break down barriers and allow citizens to get to know their local law enforcement officers. But, well, the cops will be there and they'll have fresh batches of cards and the cards are a good way to get to know our City of Gillette police. [00:01:31] So they kind of go together, right? [00:01:35] Here's what's on the September 15th city council agenda. There's two parade permits because it's that time of year, the only time of year when we have two parades so close together that is high school homecoming season. Thunder Basin High School's homecoming parade will be on September 29th at 4:30 and travel around Saunders Boulevard, Sinclair Street, Enzy Road, College Drive, Slate Street, Christnik Avenue. In a big loop, Campbell county gets a much simpler route for their homecoming parade on September 24th at 4:30. Since it'll just travel down Gillette Avenue, Council will consider accepting a couple of bids to buy vehicles. A new diesel 4x4 enclosed cab utility vehicle and a new 2026 Autocar ACX64 chassis with 2026 McNeilis ZR0 radius ASL side load body. [00:02:26] That one's a garbage truck. [00:02:29] The council will consider acceptance for two optional 1% sales tax supported the 2023 Water Main Interconnect Project and the 2025 Gurley Overpass Epoxy Injections Project, the 2023 Water Main Interconnect project, and the 2025 Gurley Overpass epoxy injections project. [00:02:47] The 2023 Water Main Interconnect project was needed for a couple of reasons, one of which was low water pressure in the Sage Valley Estates subdivision. They've fixed that now, roughly doubling the water pressure to the area. [00:03:00] There's also one optional 1% supported bid award for the 2025 Sewer Point repairs at Delaney Court and Black Hills Urgent Care. [00:03:08] Apparently the sewer collector pipe at that location was installed directly under a concrete stormwater pipe which sagged, causing frequent sewer backups that would require maintenance. [00:03:20] Sort of the opposite problem from the Sage Valley Estates Sage Valley Estates had too low water pressure from the places you water to come out. The Laney Court had too much from the places you don't want water or anything else to come out. [00:03:35] The Energy Capital Sports Complex Outdoor Workout Facility project is ready for Council to consider acceptance. [00:03:41] The facility was 50% funded by a grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund and you can go check it out at the Energy Capital Sports Complex and do one of several types of fitness activities, I assume. I was looking at a picture as I wrote this and I honestly don't know how some of this stuff ought to be used. [00:03:58] It looks like there are directions on the side of the structure though, and a QR code and possibly someone more fitness oriented than me will just know what it's all for. Check it out for yourself. [00:04:11] Council will also consider awarding a bid for the Western TIE 69kV rebuild reconductor project. [00:04:19] The Western TIE is not one of those mother of pearl bolo tie things that cowboys wear to formal events, but the city's connection to the two transmission sources from Wiadak Power Plant with this project. If one source wasn't available due to maintenance or an outage, the other could handle the City of Gillette's max Day demand for power, which is about 77 megawatts, or around 6.3% of the energy required for time travel, if my calculations are correct. [00:04:49] Council will also consider approving the city's health plan premiums and plan changes for 2026. [00:04:56] And finally, there's a memorandum of understanding between the cities of Gillette, Buffalo and Sheridan to formally dissolve the Northeast Wyoming Growth alliance, which was supposed to have all three communities work together to promote Northeast Wyoming for economic development opportunities. [00:05:10] Except they haven't really done anything with Nouga since 2020. So all three entities decided it was time to dissolve it. [00:05:17] That's a brief look at the September 15th meeting.
