Welcome to a Let’s Talk Gillette Agenda Review! The Next City Council Meeting is coming up on April 19th, so Let’s take a look at what the council will discuss. But first, here’s some other community information: The Trash-a-Thon Community Cleanup School Competition starts next week! Between April 18th and May 2nd Campbell County School District Elementary Schools will compete to help clean up our community. Here are the rules: Students can collect litter as they walk to school, but garbage from home is not allowed. Each school can choose to pick up trash by class, grade level, or as a full school, and a designated school coordinator must keep count of the overall number of garbage bags collected. The winning elementary school will receive a pizza party! The 2022 Trash-A-Thon is sponsored by the City of Gillette Parks & Beautification Board. For more information call public works, at (307)686-5320. Now, on to the agenda: There’s just one project supported by the Optional 1% sales tax on the agenda this week, Council will vote on a professional services agreement for design and bidding associated with the Fir avenue sewer improvements project. 4th of July is coming, and that means a parade, and parade means that Council will need to approve a parade permit and associated street closure. That’s one of the things they’ll do at this meeting! The city council will consider accepting and approving the Dalbey Lake FEMA Pre-Project Development Assistance Grant Study. This is part of the early stages of a project to manage Dalbey Lake’s Berms and the way it floods when it rains too much. Two people will be appointed to the mayor’s art council, one until June 2023, the other until June 2025. That’s a brief look at the April 19th meeting.
